Bible Survey Lesson 11: DEUTERONOMY 12-34
The Book of Deuteronomy is the fifth and final book of the Torah (the first five books of the Hebrew Bible). It contains the speeches that Moses delivered to the Israelites before they entered the Promised Land after 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. The book of Deuteronomy offers a restatement of the Law for a new generation, rather than a mere copy of what had gone before. Deuteronomy records this “second law”—namely Moses’s series of sermons in which he restated God’s commands originally given to the Israelites some forty years earlier in Exodus and Leviticus.
